There are a few trends I have spotted since moving here:
1. Huge Bows. All of the little girls here wear HUGE bows in their hair. My first reaction was “That baby does not have enough hair to hold up that gargantuan bow!”, but it is the cutest thing! They sell these bows everywhere and all of the little girls wear them! It’s intense. Here is what I am talking about. Is this a trend everywhere? Or just in the south. Please fill me in.
2. Monogramming. It’s everywhere! I have seen it before on bags, but holy cow! Here, just about every other small child has monogrammed clothing and every other car has a bumper sticker monogrammed with the person’s initials like so:
Or my personal favorite:
I don’t get it. I’m not saying I don’t like the monogrammed initials, I’m just wondering why they are everywhere I turn!
3. Houndstooth: Everyone here LOVES college football. Especially University of Alabama. University of Alabama football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant made this houndstooth pattern very popular as it became his trademark hat:
Now it has become a part of being an Alabama fan. Needless to say, I see it everywhere.
So, from the land of bows, houndstooth, and monograms, I leave you with this glimpse of what I see daily:
(Don't worry, I was not photographing small children - I found this from a catalog online.)
